Making our concerns heard
One of the BCYCNA's most important functions is to act as a voice on legal and
regulatory issues concerning the community newspaper industry. We
liaise with government and industry representatives to improve the
profile of our industry, and to address our interests with organizations
like the Worker's Compensation Board and the Supreme Court.
We also address national issues, such as postal rates, through
our involvement in the CCNA
(Canadian Community Newspapers Association).
Setting high standards
Being a member of the BCYCNA is a stamp of approval, and we aim to
assist our members in continuing to publish quality newspapers.
We relay information to our members that they can use - on a timely
basis - to improve operation of their businesses. They stay informed
through our newsletter, The Update, and regular communications.
The BCYCNA also hosts regular seminars on topics such as ad sales
and newspaper design, and we organize an annual awards night to
recognize high publishing standards.
