2007 TERASEN GAS / BCYCNA
MA MURRAY COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER AWARDS

Saturday, April 14, 2007

The BCYCNA has been hosting the Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards for over 80 years. Dedicated to celebrating excellence amongst our member newspapers, the accolades recognize all aspects of the newspaper industry, including production, publishing, reporting, editing, advertising, photography, website design and community contribution.

This year’s Terasen Gas / BCYCNA Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at one of our favourite venues of all time: The Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel, which has played host to the Ma Murray Awards many times in the past. The setting, the location, the food, and the quality of service there are second to none. In the heart of downtown Vancouver, the Wall Centre is a sleek and elegant venue for the BCYCNA to showcase the community newspaper industry.

Below is a list of the exciting events happening at the Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards Gala on Saturday, April 14, 2007:

SEMINARS:

Last year’s seminars were so successful, we’re offering even more this year! We looked long and hard to find the best of the best for BCYCNA members, and are thrilled to announce the following speakers not only for the Ma Murray seminars in Vancouver, but also for an on-the-road offering in Prince George. So even if you can’t make it to Vancouver, you’ll still benefit from what these very talented speakers have to teach you.

2007 will see Jack Hart of the Oregonian leading BCYCNA members through his narrative storytelling workshop, “True Stories”; Tom Braid, photo editor of the Edmonton Sun & Examiner will offer his workshop, “Shooting Pictures Tight and Bright,” and Ontario-based advertising consultant John Young will show members how to “Create Advertising that Works.”
