How To Apply:
The essay, along with school and contact information, must be submitted to the student's local community newspaper (click here for a list of our member papers). The local winner's submission will be forwarded to the BC and Yukon Community Newspapers Association for judging.
Finalists' essays are judged on: originality & creativity, writing ability (including spelling and grammar), and content (including demonstrating knowledge of the community newspaper industry).
Any graduating high school student is eligible to apply, regardless of their intended program of study, but they must be planning to attend a post-secondary institution.
The scholarships are presented at the students' graduation ceremonies by the publisher of their community newspaper.
